Served the underserved and teach general surgery with metropolitan Phoenix’s multidisciplinary District Medical Group (DMG). At DMG, a urologist could devote 40–60% of his or her practice to a robotics or uro-oncology subspecialty, though the practice has plenty of volume for bread-and-butter urology.
DMG contracts exclusively with Valleywise Health, whose new hospital is designated as Level 1 for trauma/burn and Level 2 for pediatrics. Have access to a state-of-the-art OR, with the ability to grow urologic services offered to the community, and a brand-new da Vinci Xi with urology-specific components.
Call is a light 10 days/month and typically doesn’t require going in overnight. Paid time off increases from 4 to 5 weeks after three years, and there are an additional 10 paid holidays.
With 300 sunny days each year and a cost of living that falls far below that of other fair-weather cities, Phoenix attracts lively residents with a love for the outdoors. Enjoy blue skies overtaken by breathtaking sunsets from any of Phoenix’s 189 parks, 33,000 acres of nature preserves, and 200 miles of trails. South Mountain Park, the largest municipal park in the world, is a microcosm of the Sonoran Desert, located in the heart of Phoenix. From hiking to horseback riding to rock-climbing and more, this park has it all. For water lovers you can go tubing down the Salt River.
After sunset, the city pulses with nightlife. A stroll through Roosevelt Row takes revelers past art galleries, restaurants, bars, and independent shops adorned by colorful street murals. Phoenix is known for having the best tacos this side of Tijuana, but Los Angeles Times food critic Bill Addison has recently proclaimed Phoenix “a Great American Food City,” where one might wine and dine throughout a 3-day weekend without exhausting the selection of truly fabulous restaurants.
Catch a game! Phoenix’s sports teams include the NBA’s Suns, the NFL’s Arizona Cardinals, and the MLB’s Arizona Diamondbacks. January is a favorite month of the 500,000 golf enthusiasts who flock to the city each year for the Phoenix Open.
