You’ve dedicated your career to providing the best care for your patients. You enjoy leading a successful practice. Now take your career to new heights as the medical director of a comprehensive urology program at a hospital that shares your goal of advancing the quality of care for those you serve.

The team-oriented administration of this 248-bed, state-of-the-art hospital in a service area of 240,000 is known for its superior organization and physician support. As you build its urology team and develop its robotics program, you can count on the hospital to support you in decisions that best serve the community.

Start at $540K, guaranteed for two years, plus a $109 per hour administrative allowance. The position also offers:

  • a 20% performance bonus for all hospital employees, based on the hospital’s performance
  • a signing bonus equaling 15% of base, or $81,300
  • up to $200K in loan forgiveness
  • $59 per RVU for production

During your first year, you can expect to earn in excess of $620,000, plus administrative pay.

The well-equipped office includes the latest female urology equipment and is located just a short walk from the OR. Call will be 1:3, split with another urologist from the community. The hospital’s association with Marshall University allows you the opportunity to teach urology residents.

The work atmosphere of the hospital is warm and welcoming, and life in southern Ohio offers a climate that allows you to enjoy the outdoors in a community surrounded by the 63,000 acres of  Shawnee State Forest. Cyclists, anglers, and hiking enthusiasts make their homes here, among low mountains crisscrossed by hiking trails and dotted by pristine lakes. Shawnee State Park is a popular camping spot that offers a full range of activities that include horseback riding, archery, and boating.

The community caters to kids and is eagerly awaiting the completion of its new Candyland Children’s Museum in the town’s historic Boneyfiddle District, which is also a great place for antiquing. Many physicians list the great schools among their reasons for choosing to live here. The Wheelersburg Local School District is one of the best school districts in Ohio. The Portsmouth STEM Academy and Notre Dame Schools are popular private schools in the area.

The community stays lively with students seeking higher education. In 2021, the Princeton Review ranked Shawnee State University #10 on its list of top programs for video game design. The university, which is also ranked nationally for its plastics, OT, and health administration programs, lends beauty to the town with its 62-acre campus.

But there’s more to this area than a beautiful landscape and academics. Those seeking culture will find it at the Southern Ohio Museum and Cultural Center. In addition to its five galleries and two permanent art installations, the museum offers a theater for the performing arts, a student art studio, and an offsite circus arts studio. If you love the stage, then Portsmouth Little Theater will keep you entertained year-round. You need not confine yourself to the audience, as the plays are directed and performed by volunteers. Everyone is welcome to participate!

Only 92 miles from Columbus and 105 miles from Cincinnati, this is the perfect location for a medical director who wants both the technology of a state-of-the-art urology department and easy access to outdoor recreation.
